I am a business practitioner in the small and medium-sized company sector. My professional career started in a corporation in 2000. I have been successfully developing my own business for over 18 years. I started in a flat, with an online shop Drewniaczek, then I took up the wholesale of educational toys, I was the distributor for Poland of premium brand toys. Then I bought two companies: Smartoys and Ekomaluch. I went from being a small business to a limited liability company sp.k and then to a general partnership. Like any small business owner, I have to familiarise myself with all aspects of running a business, i.e. accounting, taxes, sales, purchasing, logistics, and I could go on and on about what else.
Despite the many challenges I have on a daily basis, I wouldn't swap for a corporate job!
However, in a fast-paced world, I often wonder how to balance family life and personal passions, with managing a company,
And a day has... well... only 24 hours, or as many as 24 hours :-)
I advise small and micro businesses in the form of either business mentoring or consultancy. Regardless of the industry, business owners' problems are very similar. And what characterises us all as owners is the so-called boss loneliness. Often we have no one to ‘talk through’ our problems with, because we do not know who to turn to, or we think that the support of a business advisor is beyond our financial means, which is not necessarily true. On 31 March 2024, my company went through a complete reorganisation. I gave up my online shops and all B2C sales, liquidated the warehouse, and terminated all employees. I work from home, serving several B2B clients in the children's, bookshop and e-commerce sectors.
